Persephone theatre's connecting our community project has provided an opportunity for the arts and medical communities to collaborate on a program for saskatoon youth. grade three and four students from different schools wrote back and forth to one another as pen pals and then attended persephone theatre's youth tour production of eleanor albanese's play who cares? at st. paul's hospital. after the performance, students were able to ask questions and had the opportunity to meet their pen pals. the goal of this project is to build friendships across saskatoon and break down barriers between citizens who live in different areas of the city. from the hospital's perspective, this project helps inner city kids understand that st. paul's hospital is a safe place to come for help. students experience issue-based youth productions that educate and entertain at a cost that schools can afford. this pilot project included partners saskatchewan learning and the regina catholic school division and solitaire card game.
