1. i have worked in the hospitality industry for 35 years. i started at the brown palace hotel in 1977, in the accounting department as the assistant credit manager. in 1984, i transferred to the sales department as an administrative assistant. i eventually moved into a sales position in 1989. i the national sales manager for both the brown palace hotel and spa and our sister property, the comfort inn downtown. the brown palace hotel and spa is a historic hotel that was built in 1892. in 1959, the brown palace decided to build an addition, a 22-story hotel located directly across the street. a walk bridge on the second floor connected the two buildings, and the new building was named the brown palace tower or brown palace west. in the mid 1980s, we decided to convert the tower building into an independent hotel, which originally opened as the denver inn. soon after, we decided we needed additional name recognition. after researching the various options, we decided choice hotels offered the best package, and we officially changed the name to the comfort inn downtown. i responsible for booking both guestrooms and meeting space for both hotels and handle the association market, citywide room blocks and any white house visits. i book about 75 meetings a year, the largest being 270 people. the sales department has 11 employees, and the hotel complex employs about 400 people who are crossed trained for both hotels. we have 13, 000 sq. ft. of meeting space, the largest being our grand ballroom, which is 5, 900 sq. ft. and divisible by two. the brown palace hotel added a 5, 200 sq. ft. spa in december 2005, and the hotel's name was officially changed to brown palace hotel and spa. the spa has six treatment rooms, a couples' room, three pedicure and two manicure stations as well as two hair stylists. the services range from a colorado river stones massage to hydro therapy wraps. our hotel has 241 guestrooms, which are traditional in dcor. our eighth and ninth floors house our top of the brown executive rooms, which are oversized and have an art deco feel. the three presidential suites are also located on the eighth and ninth floors. all rooms receive.
