Disturbed.hmmm.yes! scm: so how was the entire experience? mike: oh it was incredible! we actually got 1, 500 hits on our website the day after the show. rich: i'll tell you right now, the guys in disturbed are a class act.they treated us with class. most people crap on everybody when they make it big, these guys used nothing but respect towards us, they gave us a sound check and everything. someday down the road we would love to work with them again. jay: they were just very professional and they were just amazing gentleman. very gracious. scm: what is the next step for i? mike: i would say to get our music national! rich: i want to get more people into the i camp and have more people know and hear i. jay: i really think the next step would just to get the show on the road. keenan: our next big step would be to find big management. that is our biggest thing right now, we are seeking real, major management. scm: what would your goals be other than getting signed? keenan: to be a big writing band, to be a 15-20 album type band. rich: to have a career of just writing the deepest, most emotional, satisfying and artistic music that i could possibly write. mike: signed to me is just a vehicle so that i can actually do this for a living. i would do this for minimal money. it's all about the music. the goal is to be able to do this and to never have to have a day job ever again. scm: what does your music mostly reflect? rich: struggle. we strive to give our listeners that gut feel, like it's a familiar experience. keenan: i think like a deep kind of love, almost, because just about every song is about a relationship of some sort and what is good or bad about it. jay: what i hope the listeners will get is that wow feeling like they relate to it and get it. our hopes is that they will identify with they are hearing. scm: with the size of the local scene these days, what would you say distinguishes you from the other local bands? mike: jay's bald head. ha ha riously though, i think we try to be really musical, we all have that background and we're really aggressive. we write for the song we don't write to impress everyone else. rich: we just have very distinguished sounds and we add the vocals and melodies that not many bands are willing to explore whether it's heavy or melodic. and we also have much appreciation for the other bands. i can honestly say that we have never had any problems when it comes to the other bands. keenan: i also have to add that i is made up of four guys with the same level of drive. scm: how do you feel about the competition in the local scene? jay: we don't see competition; we are our own competition. rich: we put our eye on a different ball. we don't like to compete with our brothers. keenan: i think a lot of the other locals are pretty psyched that we are doing what we're doing. if a band in the same scene makes it, it kind of puts the scene on the map, it paves the road. mike: it does get ugly between some bands sometimes but i think in the long run we are all just trying to do the same thing and if a band happens to become successful, there is a lot of support and respect received from everyone. scm: with the new album, are you hoping to create solutions with the music or raise questions? jay: life is too hard to try and solve sometimes so i would definitely just try to raise questions, every question just raises more awareness and with solutions it just takes too long to get there. i would definitely rather raise questions. rich: i would like to raise questions.what the hell are these guys going to do next? mike: i'd say raise questions also. it keeps things on the go and the curiosity is always there. scm: as a local band on the verge of major success, what is your outlook on downloading music? mike: i used to be like everyone else and i thought it was no big deal, but now i have a real big problem with it because it is making it harder for bands like us to get noticed because the record companies are totally reconstructing and merging and we are just trying to get ourselves out there. rich: digital distribution is the wave of the future and the companies are going to crumble and they're just going to have to figure out how to control it or they're going to go under; that's it plain and simple. that's not my problem because every day when we wake up in the morning, we are musicians and when we go to sleep at night, we're musicians. we'll still be playing and people will still be able to hear and get our music, that's all.that's it bottom line, let them worry about the nickels and dimes. scm: so where can we find you guys? mike: we mostly play southern new hampshire northern, massachusetts. keenan: we've done boston clubs like paradise, copperfields, goodtimes, and we played at the palladium and the orpheum. rich: we always have our shows posted up on the site. for more about i log onto wearei for show schedules and awesome music downloads and craps dice control.
