What a busy year? what year isn't? ; i started the year by being in oregon remodeling our home and putting it on the market. i can't say that doing yardwork in january was really a big goal of mine in life. it's amazing what you'll do when you need to. the house got totally painted inside and new kitchen and laundry room flooring added. the whole house received new carpet. lots of other little things were fixed including the doorframe that our renter had smashed in for us. aren't renters wonderful? ; when it was all done it was much easier to leave because it looked wonderful, but it didn't look like our home anymore. when i came back to hawaii i started my english class a month late. i sure worked hard, and i survived the class. in april, i started spring term, taking a business class that turned out to be the hardest of the three classes i took at byuh. i ended with a 4.0 at byuh. okay, i know it was only three classes, but i'm still very pleased about it. in june, i participated in byuh's commencement. i actually graduated from provo in august. i'm extremely grateful to have been able to participate in commencement here at byuh, though. my mom was able to come and watch me graduate and stay for seven weeks. that was wonderful for me. my family also was able to watch. afterwards, i received many leis. in july, joseph and ben came home. joseph from a mission to japan and ben from working in utah. we celebrated and had fun partying. my nephew, chris, was here for the month of july also and black jack rule. "but daimon and some other friends used to go up north to go hiking for days. they cruised around the boundary waters and all over. i never had the right gear and it seemed a bit scary. how about you? did you grow up in the woods?" jas sorts through their camera bag as she talks. she tells casey about living way up in the top of a giant tree, a tree taller than most buildings. she says she loves the woods, more than just about anything. she talks about traveling around when she was younger, going from forest to forest, mostly out west, and fighting to defend forests against companies trying to cut them down.
